Ottawa is a bypassed little community, sort of frozen in time. As I painted the Historical District, I thought about Ottawa in the 1800s, when its people embraced liberty, strong family and stability. The color of the stone in the buildings mirror wheat and corn that has grown from the soil for hundreds of years.

I felt a closeness to nature as I painted the Ottawa Townscape. Nature intended us to live close to the soil.
